Choosing the right curtain heading style is just as important as finding the perfect fabric to achieve your desired interior style. The fullness of your curtains and how they drape is influenced by the curtain heading you choose.

Whether you are seeking a tailored, classic look or a more relaxed and contemporary feel, we offer made to measure curtains to suit every interior setting.

GATHERED

A gathered heading works best with poles and is an ideal heading style for smaller cottage style windows or for windows with shorter drops.
An informal, gathered look, ideal for more relaxed settings such as kitchens or bedrooms. The curtain tape is set down 1” (2.5cm) from the top of the curtain.

In terms of fullness, gathered curtain headings require 2 times the width of your windows in material.

PENCIL PLEAT

With closely gathered folds for a neat and simple finish, pencil pleat is a popular and cost-effective heading option that works equally well in contemporary or period homes.
Pencil pleat curtains can be used with a track or pole.
Our made to measure pencil pleat curtains are available with a choice of 3” (7.5cm) or 6” (15cm) size pleats, and and come gathered to suit the required width of your window.

We recommend 3” (7.5cm) for shorter curtains and 6” (15cm) for full length curtains.

With a more compact design than other curtain heading styles, when folded back, eyelet curtains maximise the amount of light through a window. And when closed, as the fabric lies flatter than other curtain headings, this allows a patterned fabric design to be displayed more comprehensively.
Metal rings are sown directly into the material, so the curtain pole can run through the top of the curtain itself.

Our made to measure eyelet curtains use 40mm diameter metal rings, with the rings available in five finishes – Antique Brass, Black, Chrome, Old Nickel, Satin Silver.
As eyelets can only be used with a curtain pole, with our made to measure eyelet curtains, we recommend using a metal pole no more than 32mm in diameter

FLOP OVER FRILL

An unashamedly pretty heading, that lends itself to formal and relaxed interiors alike. A great way to add extra interest to curtains, it works really well on a single door curtain for example.

We recommend a minimum of 10cm frill depth to allow the fabric to flop over effectively, whilst a greater frill depth will look more in proportion with longer length curtains.
